Kattfest 2024 was held at the Lucky Star Casino Amphitheater for the first time.  With a crowd of almost 10,000 people, it was a sold-out event.  This year the band’s consisted of Stopgap Solution, Saint Asonia, Theory of a Deadman, and the headliner Shinedown.

The evening kicked off under the scorching 100° Oklahoma heat with Stopgap Solution from Memphis. Despite the intense weather, the band delivered an electrifying performance that quickly turned curious listeners into avid fans. Their gratitude towards Shinedown for including them in the show was genuine, and their set was the perfect appetizer for the musical feast that followed. Their energetic performance set the tone for an unforgettable night, leaving the crowd pumped and ready for more. Go and give this band a follow. I promise, you will not regret that decision!!

Next up was Saint Asonia. As the stage was being prepped, four stools caught my eye, hinting at an unexpected twist. Indeed, frontman Adam Gontier and guitarist Tavis Stanley announced an acoustic set due to some band members facing travel issues. The decision to go unplugged rather than cancel was met with enthusiastic applause. This intimate performance showcased a different side of Saint Asonia, adding a unique and memorable chapter to their live show legacy. It was a refreshing surprise that the crowd of thousands, including myself, deeply appreciated.

Theory of a Deadman took the stage next, and as always, they did not disappoint. The band’s setlist was a nostalgic journey through their 25-year career, packed with hits that had the crowd singing along. Frontman Tyler Connolly’s comedic flair shone through, particularly when he produced a Polaroid camera, snapped a photo of the crowd, and humorously shook it before tossing it to a lucky fan. Tyler’s mock phone call with his mom had everyone laughing, and their giveaway of t-shirts and hats added an extra layer of fun. Theory’s performance was a dynamic mix of music and humor, keeping the energy high and the audience engaged.

The night culminated with the headliners, Shinedown. Brent Smith, Zach Myers, Eric Bass, and Barry Kerch took the stage to an eruption of cheers. Shinedown’s live performances are legendary, and this night was no exception. Their connection with the audience is profound, spanning across generations, and their ability to evoke a wide range of emotions is unparalleled. From high-energy rockers to deeply emotional ballads, Shinedown’s set was a rollercoaster of feels. Brent Smith’s powerful vocals, paired with the band’s tight performance, left everyone in awe.

Kattfest 2024 was a resounding success, with Rock 100.5 The KATT curating another stellar lineup. From the intense heat to the incredible performances, it was a night of rock magic that left 10,000 fans, including myself, eagerly anticipating next year. Thank you, Kattfest, for an unforgettable evening of rock ‘n’ roll!
