We are a visual rock band from the sunny Perth, Western Australia. On the drums is Marcel, Dan shreds the leads, and Craig and Pat share the bass and guitar duties. We take inspiration from Japanese rock music, Visual Kei, pop-punk and indie music. We strive to combine catchy tunes with eye catching aesthetics to give something unique to the modern band scene.
Introduce us to the band! What are your names and what do you do in the band?
Marcel – Drums/vocals
Craig – Bass/vocals
Patrick – Guitar/vocals
DanleaLead guitar
Where do you call home?
- How long have you been together as a band and how did you find each other?
We have been a band since 2017. Patrick found Craig through a mutual friend and was already friends with Dan. we found Marcel from the world lf Facebook market place (a local music Facebook group)
- Do you have a special songwriting recipe you follow?
Usually we would write and record instrumental demo’s before writing the lyrics and melodies. But sometimes we are true poets and write the lyrics first!
- How would members of your family describe your music to someone that hasn’t heard it?
Our parents are true fans of our art and think its fantastic, but probably “bit heavy but catchy as hell”.
- What do you have on your(Spotify) playlists you would be embarrassed for others to see?
we feel if you’re embarrassed to share your music that’s a reflection on both the people you surround yourself with and society in general. The world says Craig should be embarrassed to listen to Taylor Swift and sad girl indie pop, but he will fight to the end of the earth for anyone to have a good cry to it.
- Do you have any pre-show rituals?
Craig would definitely listen to the songs over again, Patrick would skull a glass of water, Dan and Marcel are one to have a beer beforehand.
- Who have you met that has left you starstruck?
Craig has met Matty Healy in his dreams once, but no one truly sticks out more than the boys in the band. We all leave each other speechless, be it by pure talent and skill, or sheer stupidity.
- What do you consider your greatest achievement as far as a band?
Definitely recording our debut album and getting some air time on our local Aussie radio station!
- What key elements do you believe makes up a successful song?
A catchy melody and not having cringe lyrics (a little cringe is ok). That and a sick as hell solo from Dan the man.
- When writing, how do you know when it is finally done?
When we have exhausted all avenues of writing the song and we are happy with it! Basically if it sounds finished it is finished.
- What song of yours are you most proud of?
We are very proud of the work on Soap and Don’t Know Where To Go. Mistake has his favourite leads. But I’d say the band is super stocked with the popularity of Soap and Ginger.
- Is it possible to be on the road and not eat junk food? How do you keep it leveled out?
Craig has IBS. So that really says it all. But the rest of the band struggle with eating healthy. lots of sushi helps though!
- Are you able to write while on the road or do you need a calm familiar space like home?
A calm and familiar space is better because it’s hard to write when it’s so chaotic.
- What’s the most embarrassing thing to happen on stage or on tour?
Craig had lost his capo so Mistake and Soap were very very hard to play. Only to find it had fallen behind the guitar amp!!!!
- What can BleachBANGS do to help you in any way?
Just getting our name out there so we can play more shows!
- How can everyone keep up with everything you have going on? Where can they get albums/merch?
They can buy our albums on iTunes and other music buying digital platforms, but mainly our Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Facebook, Tiktok and Instagram!
