Introduce us to the band! What are your names and what do you do in the band?
Fire the Humans is a solo project based in the United States. Comprised of Jeff Lee singer/ songwriter. John DeNosky, 3X Grammy winning production editor.
Where do you call home? United States
2. How long have you been together as a band and how did you find each other?
I started writing the Fire the Humans catalog in 2020 during the global pandemic. Recorded and released the first single in March of 2021.
3. Do you have a special songwriting recipe you follow?
Everything starts with an incredible melodic hook. If I can’t forget the melody out of my head, I keep going and build it out. When I get to a place where there’s some substance, I send it to John and he starts to visualize how to take it to another level and begins building the skeleton.
4. How would members of your family describe your music to someone that hasn’t heard it?
Raspy vocals delivering a melodic cadence full depth and meaning. Catchy hooks, head bobbing beats, anthem sized chorus’.
5. What do you have on your(Spotify) playlists you would be embarrassed for others to see?
I enjoy all types of music. I probably listen to jazz and meditation music more than anything else. I also love punk and heavy heavy music. Pantera etc.
6. Do you have any pre-show rituals? Give thanks to God. That’s all that matters. God is good.
7. Who have you met that has left you starstruck?
Not one individual, but volunteers that make the world better. People that help other people without the thought of reward. Those people leave me starstruck.
8. What do you consider your greatest achievement as far as a band?
The fact that I am surrounded by great people that help me get me talents out to the world. That’s quite a gift that I don’t take for granted.
9. What key elements do you believe makes up a successful song?
Catchy melody. Lyrics that are relatable…and more importantly… not giving a f&$k what people think about it. Write it for you. Be yourself. People see though bulls**t.
10. When writing, how do you know when it is finally done?
Interesting question. I can always add something or change something after a song is ‘done’.
11. What song of yours are you most proud of?
‘CLEVER’ is the new single that drops on 10/31 and I haven’t released a single since 2022. I’m proud to show people this one.
12. Is it possible to be on the road and not eat junk food? How do you keep it leveled out?
Yes. Absolutely possible. Just takes prep work and discipline. Have to want it.
13. Are you able to write while on the road or do you need a calm familiar space like home?
Yes, I write on the road all the time. When I’m alone in a car, a coffee shop, a shower, a hotel room, a plane. That’s when I can focus and put pen to paper.
14. What’s the most embarrassing thing to happen on stage or on tour?
I’ve had my face stepped on while playing live before. I saw people gasp. I was on the ground flailing around and my guitarist at the time stepped backwards right onto my face. Broke my sunglasses. We just laughed. Show went on.
15. What can BleachBANGS do to help you in any way?
Truly appreciate you giving artists a platform to show others our artwork. I love privacy and discretion, so having a platform like BleachBANGS allows me to avoid social media but still share Fire the Humans music.
16. How can everyone keep up with everything you have going on? Where can they get albums/merch?
I love my privacy and don’t show every place I visit, every meal I eat, so I do not partake in social media. Fire the Humans can be followed on Spotify, YouTube, and all musical platforms. I think privacy is missing from the music industry.
‘CLEVER’ is the new Fire the Humans single that drops on 10/31/24 – available on all digital media music platforms.
